Victory has come because the deathblow to all the enemies of God has been levied through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. God’s law has been perfectly obeyed through Jesus’ life, and sin has been perfectly punished through His death. Believers, we have been joined to the living resurrected Christ so that we may bear fruit for God. Christ has freed us from all condemnation, and we have been set free from the law of sin and death. We have been predestined, called, justified and even glorified in Christ our Lord. The Father has set His everlasting love upon us for the sake of His Son, and He gives us all we need. The lives we live, however, are oftentimes far from living proof of these truths. Our union with Christ seems something ethereal and not substantial. We get pummeled by indwelling sin and feel weak, guilty, anxious, and afraid. Our lives, marriages, and relationships feel less than triumphant. The beautiful truths and precious promises explained in Romans 7 and 8 give us fresh fuel for the fight as we live, love and serve God in all that we do.
